Writing Center

The HGSE Writing Center is an educational program within the Harvard Graduate School of Education. We provide personalized support to all HGSE students with quality one-on-one consultations to cultivate written, oral, and visual communications skills at any stage of the process. Our core offerings include a series of workshops and webinars in addition to individual appointments and online resources. Throughout the academic year, we strive to equip HGSE students with communication skills we believe are essential for both academic and career success in the 21st century.

The HGSE Writing Center offers our master and doctoral students a variety of services and supports related to writing. One-On-One Appointments

  • One-on-one virtual appointment (30 or 45 minutes for master’s students and 60 minutes for doctoral students)
  • Define a research question
  • Organize the content of your paper
  • Receive citation and referencing resource recommendations 

Services not included:

  • Copy editing, proofreading, and grammar help

  • One-two hour hybrid workshop (a/synchronous sessions) providing broad exposure to introductory communication skills and frameworks 
  • Participants will practice relevant skills and receive concrete resources
  • Topics: Academic Writing Structure, Style & Strategy and Citing & Referencing in the Digital Age
