Ariel Guicheng Tan
Guicheng “Ariel” Tan is a Ph.D. student and presidential scholar at Harvard Graduate School of Education, with a concentration in Human Development, Learning, and Teaching. As a researcher, Ariel is interested in how people process and integrate multiple cultural identities into a cohesive sense of self, with a specific focus on the role of cognitive flexibility in this identity developmental process. Outside of research, Ariel has over 6 years of experience in student affairs implementing residential education programs, leading assessment and DEI efforts, overseeing crisis management, and training student leaders at different universities. Ariel holds an M.A. in Higher Education and Student Affairs from New York University, and a B.S. with Distinction in Psychology from the University of California, San Diego.
